(Rights Defense Network Information Center report) On August 18, 2026, this outlet learned that Ms. Gao Jiping, a 71-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, was abducted and sentenced to three years in prison seven years ago. On June 4, 2026, despite being extremely weak and having long failed to meet the conditions for incarceration, she was forcibly confined in Shanxi Women’s Prison. It was recently learned that her health has continued to deteriorate and that she is critically ill. On August 5, the Eighth Prison District of the women’s prison urgently transferred her to Shanxi Province No. 109 Hospital (Shanxi Xinkang Prison).

Having suffered years of intimidation, threats and extreme psychological pressure from Chinese Communist Party public security, procuratorial and judicial personnel, Gao Jiping developed multiple serious illnesses: hypertension, severe anemia and uremia, and for years she has been almost unable to speak normally. Between 2021 and 2025, Gao Jiping was forcibly taken five times by the Wanbolin District Court of Taiyuan City and the Criminal Police Team of the Heping South Road Jurisdiction of the Wanbolin District Public Security Sub-Bureau to various hospitals for medical examinations. Each examination result showed that she did not meet the conditions for incarceration, yet the police continued trying to put her in prison.

On March 4, 2026, the Wanbolin Public Security Sub-Bureau ignored Gao Jiping’s health condition and forcibly “imprisoned” her, confining her in the Fourth Detention Center of Taiyuan City. On June 4, 2026, Gao Jiping was forcibly sent to Shanxi Women’s Prison. About one month ago, she was transferred from the training unit to the Eighth Prison District, which subjected her to so-called “transformation work” and prohibited visits from relatives. It is currently learned that Gao Jiping’s health has continued to deteriorate and that she is critically ill. On August 5, 2026, the Eighth Prison District of the women’s prison transferred her to Shanxi Province No. 109 Hospital (Shanxi Xinkang Prison). According to a doctor, her uremia has entered its end stage; she urgently needs fistula surgery and dialysis treatment, and her overall physical condition is “very poor.”
