First Anniversary of the Zion Church Case
(Rights Defense Network Information Center report) On October 9, 2026, this site learned that it was the first anniversary of the Zion Church case. Beginning on October 9, 2025, 23 pastors and coworkers of Zion Church were arrested in multiple locations; since then, 14 have been released on bail pending trial, and 1 was released after prosecutors decided not to prosecute.
Several defense lawyers have been pressured by judicial administrative departments; some lawyers have been penalized with suspensions from practice, and lawyer Zhang Kai has had his license revoked. The Chinese authorities should stop interfering with lawyers’ lawful performance of their defense duties and guarantee the defendants’ right to a fair trial.
This site will continue to follow developments in the Zion Church case.
