On August 6, 2026, this outlet learned that, ahead of the upcoming pretrial conference and trial in the Zion Case, the families of detained persons and those released on bail pending trial have recently been subjected to continued harassment and pressure from the authorities. According to information from Liu Chunli, the wife of Pastor Jin Mingri, “The families of those involved in the Zion Case have recently reported that, as the relevant departments accelerate the judicial proceedings related to the Zion Case, the families of detained persons, as well as some church workers who have been released on bail pending trial, have recently been continuously harassed, pressured and frequently summoned for meetings by relevant personnel, causing families that were already under tremendous pressure to once again fall into a state of anxiety.” A video released by Liu Chunli shows that the authorities deployed multiple police officers and plainclothes personnel to the homes of the parties’ family members, repeatedly knocking on the doors to intimidate and harass them.

The Zion Case will hold a pretrial conference on August 10–11 and hearings from August 14–18; the pretrial conference for Pastor Gao Quanfu of Zion Light Church will also be held on August 10. Liu Chunli called on “brothers and sisters who are concerned about the Zion Case to go to Court No. 17 in Beihai to attend the proceedings.”

In addition, Pastor Jin Mingri, who has been released and traveled to the United States, entrusted lawyer Li Guisheng to complete the outstanding matters: 1. Provide Pastor Jin with a written opinion on non-prosecution; 2. Return Pastor Jin’s confiscated personal belongings, including several thousand books, two mobile phones, a computer, several hard drives, and bank cards containing more than 10,000 yuan… 3. Since Pastor Jin has not been prosecuted, please unconditionally release the eight pastors and church workers who are still being detained!
