（Rights Defense Network Information Center report）On June 26, 2026, this website learned of the case details and biography of Ms. Wu Qiuyu, a victim of the Zion Church 10·9 case who was arrested. The information is hereby reported as follows：

Wu Qiuyu：Female, from Beijing, a Christian, a preacher at Beijing Zion Church, a victim of the Zion Church 10·9 case, and a detained prisoner of conscience in China。

She initially attended Beijing No. 4 High School, and was later admitted to a relevant program at Peking University because of her excellent academic performance；after graduating from university, although she had a brief work experience, she later became a Christian and, feeling called, studied at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in the United States, where she obtained a Master of Theology；she subsequently actively served at Beijing Zion Church, married Yang Jun, who was also a church pastor, and together participated in the online and offline evangelical ministry activities of different branches of Zion Church；in 2025, because the Chinese Communist Party’s new wave of religious persecution was emerging nationwide, the church where she served had been forcibly banned by the Beijing authorities on September 9, 2018, but afterward, because of the pastors’ and believers’ yearning for and discreet perseverance in their faith, and because the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic forced people to remain at home and prevented them from going out freely, Zion Church began initiating online evangelical outreach activities, so its pastors and fellow workers all worked hard, causing the church’s influence and scale to continuously expand, but as a result it also aroused the clear displeasure of and came under intense attention and suppression by the Chinese Communist Party authorities；

Beginning on October 9, 2025, multiple pastors, fellow workers, and key believers from branches of her Zion Church in various locations were subjected to surprise raids by the Chinese Communist Party authorities, and nearly 30 people were taken away by police or went missing；she too was taken from her home on October 10 by police from Beijing and Beihai acting jointly, her home was searched, and her mobile phone, computer, and personal bank cards were seized；her husband, Pastor Yang Jun, was also originally to be arrested, but because he was not at home at the time and was in South Korea participating in external evangelism, he was not arrested, leaving only their two children, who were forced to be cared for by their maternal grandparents；on November 18 of the same year, 18 Zion Church pastors and fellow workers, including her, were formally arrested by police in Yinhai District, Beihai City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on suspicion of the crime of “illegally using an information network”；on June 18, 2026, after three criminal investigations by Yinhai District police in Beihai, her case had reached the maximum seven-month period of investigative detention for major cases；it was learned on the same day that, in her case, nine pastors and fellow workers had ultimately been released on bail pending trial, while she and eight other church leaders—Jin Mingri, Wang Lin, Gao Yingjia, Yin Huibin, Liu Zhenbin, Lin Shucheng, Wang Cong (female), and Wang Zhong—remained detained, and the charges against them were changed to “illegal business operations” and “fraud” before the case was transferred to the Yinhai District People’s Procuratorate of Beihai City for review and prosecution。
