Wu Huaiyun was originally a well-known entertainment writer in China,posting and writing annually on multiple major domestic platforms。After joining Twitter in September 2018 under the Twitter name "Xinyue Baiyun",she was accused of defaming the Party and national leaders because of her tweets,and her domestic Weibo verified account、Sina blog、and WeChat public account "Xinyue Daily" were all shut down on the same day,She was also administratively detained in October 2018,and held in a detention facility for 11 days。
On March 23, 2021,the Public Security Bureau of Huoshan County, Anhui Province, criminally detained Wu Huaiyun on suspicion of the crime of picking quarrels and provoking trouble, citing her tweets as the reason,and placed her in a detention center,She was subsequently formally arrested and indicted,and was later sentenced solely because of her statements by the Huoshan County Court on September 20, 2023, to 3 years and 10 months for “the crime of picking quarrels and provoking trouble”。Her sentence was due to end on January 11, 2025。
Wu Huaiyun suffered abuse and torment in prison,was given 6 or 7 injections,and was also forced to take medication for more than two years,She was forced to plead guilty and accept punishment,otherwise her detention would be repeatedly extended and she would receive a heavier sentence,She was held for 28 months before the verdict was issued。While in prison, she was beaten by a group of police officers,leaving her with a bruised and swollen face,and suffered soft-tissue and rib injuries in multiple parts of her body, yet Wu Huaiyun consistently refused to admit guilt。
After she was released from prison,on April 28, 2025, the local police again summoned Wu Huaiyun to the police station to threaten and warn her,and even wanted to impose a fine of up to 10,000 yuan,But because the police knew Wu Huaiyun had no money,they did not ask her to pay。The reason given for dealing with her was that she had posted on Twitter,She said she had posted only a few tweets,all of them quotations from well-known figures posted on Twitter after being circulated domestically,The police said,regardless of what you post,accessing foreign websites by circumventing the firewall is illegal。

76-year-old Beijing rights-defending military wife Guo Likun, who was criminally detained, released on bail
The Rights Defense Network Information Center reported that Guo Likun, a 76-year-old Beijing rights-defending military wife and retired doctor, was released on bail in September 2026 after being criminally detained following travel to Beidaihe on July 29. Guo had petitioned over the 2015 forced demolition of her home and her husband’s injuries, and had previously been detained from September 2021 to March 15, 2023, for “picking quarrels and provoking trouble.”

Zhou Guoqiang, also known by the pen name A Qü Qiangba, has been released after completing a prison sentence, according to information learned on September 13, 2026. Autumn Rain Covenant Church Elder Wu Wuqing and Brother Shen Xiaoqing Placed in Administrative Detention for 10 Days
On September 13, 2026, the Rights Defense Network Information Center reported that shortly after 3 p.m. on September 11, more than 30 officers from Chengdu’s Hongpailou Police Station raided a reading group held in the homes of 11 elderly Christians from Autumn Rain Covenant Church.
