Update on the situation in detention of labor rights advocate Feng Rui (Xiao Wu): questioned almost every day, up to three times in one day
(Rights Defense Network Information Center report)On October 13, 2026, this website learned:Xiao Wu(Feng Rui), a labor rights advocate who was detained on suspicion of “picking quarrels and provoking trouble” for posting a “2025 Review of Labor Rights Incidents” on the WeChat public account “Chiapas East Wind TV,” was taken away by the Yuexiu Branch of the Guangzhou Public Security Bureau on September 14, 2026, and is currently held at the Yuexiu District Detention Center。
Since September 17, 2026,Feng Rui has been questioned almost every day,up to three times in one day。Questioning did not stop during the National Day holiday。At one point,Feng Rui suffered from vomiting and diarrhea due to gastrointestinal illness and was so weak that he needed support to climb stairs, yet he was still pushed in a wheelchair to the interrogation room。In addition,Feng Rui has severe cervical spondylosis and should not sit for long periods, lengthy interrogations will only worsen his condition。Because the questioning sessions lasted too long,he missed mealtimes, and Feng Rui could only eat cold food when he returned。
Such continuous、high-intensity questioning raises concerns about whether Feng Rui’s physical health and basic rights can be protected, and has also prompted questions about interrogations conducted under fatigue and the illegal gathering of evidence。
