(Information Center of China Human Rights Defenders Network) On July 4, 2026, this website learned that renowned human rights defender Tang Jingling recently visited friends in Kunming, Yunnan, and was forcibly taken from Kunming by police and sent back to Jingzhou.

It is reported that former lawyer Tang Jingling, whose lawyer’s license was revoked by the authorities, recently visited friends in Kunming, Yunnan, and promoted legal knowledge, but was obstructed and harassed by the authorities. On July 2, 2026, officials from Jingzhou, Hubei, arrived and said they were acting on orders from the Ministry of Public Security, forcibly taking Tang Jingling from Kunming and sending him to his hometown of Jingzhou. With the anniversary of the 709 mass crackdown approaching, the Chinese Communist authorities are intensifying stability-maintenance operations targeting human rights lawyers and citizens.
