After posting some domestic pandemic photos during the pandemic，Xu Na was arrested by police at her home on July 19, 2020， sentenced to 8 years in prison on January 14, 2022， transferred from the Beijing Dongcheng District Detention Center to the Tianhe Prison Dispatch Center on September 20, 2023， and transferred to the Third District of Beijing Women's Prison around November of the same year。

Profile of Xu Na：Female， among the fasting students on Tiananmen Square at the time， there was a woman named Xu Na（also known as Xu娜）， a student at Beijing Broadcasting Institute（now Communication University of China）。Thirty-two years ago， she and her classmates held high a banner reading “Freedom of the press， freedom of speech” and walked full of hope among the crowds demonstrating in the streets of Beijing。Thirty-two years later， Xu Na is still in Beijing， but has already been held in criminal detention at the Dongcheng District Detention Center for more than a year。

In August 1999， Xu Na and Yu Zhou were both detained for more than 40 days after attending a gathering of fellow practitioners。

In July 2001， Xu Na was arrested again for providing accommodation to Falun Gong friends who had come to Beijing from other parts of the country， and was later sentenced to five years in prison。

At the beginning of 2008， as the Olympic Games approached， dissidents in various places were arrested， including Falun Gong practitioners。

On the evening of January 26, 2008， Yu Zhou and Xu Na were stopped and searched by police while driving home after a concert。 The police found a Falun Gong book in their car and took the couple to the Tongzhou Detention Center。 Eleven days later, on New Year's Eve， the physically robust Yu Zhou suddenly died under mysterious circumstances， at the age of 42。 The authorities claimed that Yu Zhou had died from fasting or diabetes。 Xu Na, devastated by grief, was sentenced to three years in prison。 The true cause of Yu Zhou's death remains a mystery to this day。

The case of Yu Zhou and Xu Na was cited in a report submitted by Amnesty International to the United Nations Universal Periodic Review in February 2009， an analytical report by the U.S. Congressional-Executive Commission on China， and the 2010 annual report of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom。

On July 19, 2020， Xu Na was arrested for the third time。 Thirteen Falun Gong practitioners were arrested by Beijing police that day， and 11 of them, including Xu Na, were accused of the “crime of sabotaging law enforcement”。 The arrest and prosecution of Xu Na and the others involved posting some domestic pandemic photos during the pandemic and their identity as Falun Gong practitioners。

On January 16, 2022， Xu Na was sentenced by the Beijing authorities to 8 years in prison， deprivation of political rights for 1 year， and a fine of 20,000 yuan。 In late September 2023, she was transferred to Beijing Women's Prison to serve her sentence。
