She was arrested by local police on March 8, 2024, and subsequently criminally detained, formally arrested, and prosecuted. She was later sentenced to 5 years in prison in 2025. Her sentence ends on: March 7, 2029. In early October 2025, Zhao Zhuqing was transferred to Gansu Women’s Prison to serve her sentence.

A Rights Defense Network Information Center report said it learned on October 15, 2026, of the case of Li Yuju, a Falun Gong practitioner from Pingdu City, Shandong Province. Police arrested Li on January 7, 2026, while she was reading Falun Gong books with another practitioner, and she was held at Pudong Detention Center. On September 17, the Pingdu City Court sentenced her to four years in prison and fined her 20,000 yuan. Her sentence ends January 6, 2030.
