On May 9, 2023, Liu Dequn was arrested while speaking about Falun Gong at the Chuntianbao vegetable market in Zunyi City and was held at Zunyi City No. 2 Detention Center. She was subsequently criminally detained, formally arrested, and indicted. In September 2026, it was learned that she had been sentenced to 4 years. She is currently held at Guizhou Province No. 1 Women's Prison to serve her sentence. Her sentence runs until May 8, 2027.
