Zhang Xiaodong was arrested on November 15, 2022。The indictment accused him of allegedly committing the crime of picking quarrels and provoking trouble，while all the evidence consisted of his so-called statements in WeChat groups、Moments、and QQ groups，making this a typical case of being convicted for his speech。At 10:00 a.m. on March 19, 2024, Zhang Xiaodong’s case of picking quarrels and provoking trouble was heard at the Qingshanhu District Court of Nanchang City，and Zhang Xiaodong firmly believed that he was innocent。On May 10, 2024，Zhang Xiaodong’s case was tried and the verdict was delivered，and Zhang Xiaodong was sentenced to 4 years in prison，dissatisfied with the verdict，he appealed in court，and the second instance upheld the original judgment。
