Yan Jingqiu: A female Falun Gong practitioner from Qingdao, born in 1959, aged 67 in 2026. She began practising Falun Gong in 1996. After the CCP's large-scale persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, her family was brutally persecuted for adhering to Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance: her father and husband died unjustly; her sisters were sent to re-education through labour; she herself was arrested and detained multiple times, sent to re-education through labour three times and sentenced to prison twice, tortured in prison, and detained for a cumulative total of more than eight years, repeatedly narrowly escaping death.

On the afternoon of March 14, 2026, Yan Jingqiu was arrested by police from the Domestic Security Brigade of the Qingdao Shinan District Public Security Bureau while she was on her way to a shoe-repair stall near her home to have her schoolbag repaired. She was subsequently detained at the Qingdao No. 1 Detention Centre (Jimo Detention Centre). She was then criminally detained, formally arrested, and prosecuted.

On July 29, 2026, the Qingdao Shinan District Court held a trial for 67-year-old Yan Jingqiu at the Qingdao No. 1 Detention Centre. On August 6, her family learned that she had been sentenced to four and a half years in prison. Her sentence runs until: September 13, 2030.
