(Rights Defense Network Information Center report) On August 18, 2026, this website learned the case details and biography of Ms. Wu Juan, a Falun Gong practitioner from Shan County, Heze City, Shandong Province, who was sentenced to 3 years and 2 months, and reports them as follows:

Wu Juan: A female Falun Gong practitioner from Shan County, Heze City, Shandong Province, born in 1968 and aged 58 in 2026. She previously worked at the People's Bank of China in Shan County. She began practicing Falun Gong in 1996. Her parents and her older sister, Wu Ping, also began practicing Falun Gong that same year. On July 20, 1999, after the Jiang Zemin group of the Chinese Communist Party launched an exterminatory persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, Wu Juan's family became one of the first targets. Her home had once been a practice site and was subjected to harassment and threats for a long period; persecution caused the families of the two sisters to break apart, and her older sister Wu Ping was also subjected to reeducation through labor twice.

On February 4, 2026, Wu Juan was forcibly taken away by police from her home. Her home was searched at the same time. Wu Juan was subsequently detained at the Heze Detention Center. Procuratorate personnel framed her on the charge of "using a cult organization to undermine law enforcement" and placed her under criminal detention. She was subsequently formally arrested and prosecuted. Wu Juan was tried by the Shan County People's Court on July 16, 2026. In court, she insisted on defending herself against the charges and arguing that she was not guilty. On July 24, the Shan County People's Court issued a criminal judgment: Wu Juan was sentenced to 3 years and 2 months in prison and fined RMB 10,000. Her sentence runs until May 3, 2029.
