Wu Xi: A female Falun Gong practitioner from Fangzheng County, Heilongjiang, born in 1971 and 55 years old in 2026. She graduated from the Changchun Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics and earned a master's degree from Jilin University of Technology. She once taught at the student aid center of Jilin University and began practicing Falun Gong in 1997. Since the Chinese Communist Party faction led by Jiang Zemin launched its frenzied persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, Wu Xi has repeatedly been abducted, detained, and persecuted:
Winter 2001: She went to Beijing to petition and was sentenced to 1.5 years of re-education through labor.
2017: Wu Xi was sentenced to 3 years for producing Falun Gong materials and was subjected to torture in a women's prison.
2021: Wu Xi was arrested for distributing Falun Gong materials on a street in Harbin. She was later sentenced to 3.5 years; in Harbin Women's Prison, her lumbar spine was nearly crippled from beatings.
Wu Xi was arrested on December 4, 2025, by domestic security police from the Gaoleng Branch of the Fangzheng County Public Security Bureau. She was taken to Harbin for detention and was subsequently transferred to Boli County. Wu Xi was later sentenced to 2 years by the Boli County Court and is currently being held at Songbin Prison in Harbin. Her sentence runs until December 3, 2027.

Case Details and Biography of Ms. Zheng Yufang, a Falun Gong Practitioner from Chifeng, Inner Mongolia, Sentenced to 1 Year and 10 Months
A Weiquanwang Information Center report said Zheng Yufang, also known as Zheng Lihui, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Chifeng, Inner Mongolia. After a security guard reported her for distributing Falun Gong materials on April 15, 2026, she was arrested on April 17 and held at the Songshan District Detention Center. She appeared at Songshan District Court on August 13 and was sentenced in October to 1 year and 10 months in prison and fined 5,000 yuan. Her sentence ends February 16, 2028.

Case Details and Profile of Gansu Rights Defender Zhou Lubao, Sentenced to 14 Years
Zhou Lubao, a Gansu rights defender born in 1985, was sentenced at first instance in late September 2026 to 14 years in prison and fined 120,000 yuan for picking quarrels and provoking trouble and extortion. He was detained in March 2024 after publishing more than 25 Sina Weibo posts, dozens of which reposted migrant workers’ messages seeking unpaid wages, and formally arrested on April 3. All seven defendants denied the charges and said they would appeal; Zhou’s sentence runs until March 2038.

Two Years Since the Arrest of Hunan Human Rights Defender Li Yuanfeng
Li Yuanfeng, originally named Li Weizhong, is an independent journalist from Hunan who has focused on labor rights and rights-defense cases. Police took him away on October 10, 2024. He was administratively detained for 15 days, then criminally detained on suspicion of picking quarrels and provoking trouble, before being placed under residential surveillance on suspicion of inciting subversion. He has stood trial and told the court his publications and online comments were exercises of free speech.

Wuxi Xinwu District petitioner Zou Xiaoyan forcibly returned from Beijing by police and detained at home, deprived of her personal freedom
The Rights Defence Network Information Center reported that Wuxi petitioner Zou Xiaoyan was intercepted in Beijing on October 7, 2026, and returned to Wuxi for allegedly leaving the city while on bail pending trial. After arriving home on October 8, she was reportedly detained under round-the-clock surveillance. She had travelled to seek redress over an attempted storefront demolition and alleged slapping by Beijing liaison office staff. The report says more than 200 Wuxi rights defenders have faced criminal cases without facts constituting crimes.
