(Rights Defense Network Information Center report)On April 8, 2026,this website learned of the case details and profile of Ms. Zhang Zhenyi, a 79-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Kunming, Yunnan, who was sentenced to two years. The details are now reported as follows:
Zhang Zhenyi:A female Falun Gong practitioner from Kunming, Yunnan,born in 1947,and aged 79 in 2026。She was formerly a mathematics teacher at Puer Middle School。She began practicing Falun Gong in 1998。
Zhang Zhenyi and her husband,fellow Falun Gong practitioner Su Zesheng,formerly an attending physician at the Ning'er Hani and Yi Autonomous County Hospital,were arrested on November 15, 2023,She remained released on bail pending trial due to her health condition。Her husband, Su Zesheng, was detained throughout and was sentenced to four years in prison and fined 40,000 yuan on December 21, 2024。
By August 28, 2025,the Xishan District Court of Kunming sentenced her to two years in prison and fined her 20,000 yuan。Due to her health condition,she had not been taken into custody。On March 30, 2026,Zhang Zhenyi was again taken to a hospital for a medical examination by the police handling her case,and was then forcibly sent to the Kunming Detention Center,which sent her to the Kunming Xinhua Hospital for inpatient treatment that same day,On April 2, she was transferred to the Yunnan No. 2 Women's Prison。Her sentence runs through:March 29, 2028。

The Kunming Shijixincheng Christian Church case will hold a pretrial conference on September 2, 2026, with trial scheduled to begin September 16. Authorities raided a church gathering on April 12, taking preacher Yu Shaolin, Li Qun and Luo Ping into custody. The three were formally arrested on May 20 on suspicion of “organizing an illegal gathering” and are held at Guandu District Detention Center.

Zion Church’s Open Prayer Letter Urging the Beihai Yinhai District Court to Immediately Release Wang Zhong and Wu Qiuyu
Zion Church said the Beihai Yinhai District Procuratorate indicted its “10·9” case on July 17, 2026, but a planned August pretrial conference and trial were postponed after lawyers protested. Eight pastors and co-workers remain detained on fraud and/or illegal business operations charges. The church said Wang Zhong’s bail requests were denied despite severe heart disease and his father’s death, while Wu Qiuyu remains separated from her two young children.
