Case Details and Biography of Ms. Wu Yongqiong, a Falun Gong Practitioner from Panzhihua City, Sichuan, Sentenced to One Year in Prison

(Information Center of Rights Defense Network report) On April 9, 2026, this website learned of the case details and biography of Ms. Wu Yongqiong, a Falun Gong practitioner from Panzhihua City, Sichuan, who was sentenced to one year in prison. They are reported as follows:

Wu Yongqiong: A female Falun Gong practitioner from Panzhihua City, Sichuan, born in November 1966. She is an employee of the Panzhihua Pangang Energy and Power Center (formerly the Pangang Power Plant) and lives in Panzhihua's Eastern District. She began practicing Falun Gong in her early years. During the Chinese Communist Party's more than two-decade-long persecution of Falun Gong, Wu Yongqiong was subjected to three home raids by local police and criminally detained twice because she persisted in her faith in Falun Gong. She was tortured by being shackled with her hands raised, beaten, made to sit on an iron chair, and deprived of sleep, among other forms of torture.

On February 1, 2024, Wu Yongqiong was arrested and her home was raided by officers from the Eastern District Public Security Sub-Bureau. She was subsequently released on “bail pending trial.” Afterwards, officers from the Dadukou Police Station, together with the procuratorate and court, framed her.

On February 26, 2026, the Eastern District Court of Panzhihua City held a hearing for Wu Yongqiong. It was later learned that she was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 3,000 yuan. On March 27, she was remanded in custody again and detained at the Mianshawan Detention Center in Panzhihua City. Her sentence runs until: March 27, 2027.
