Statement by Wuxi human rights defender Shen Aibin

On October 27, 2025, I, Shen Aibin, was inexplicably assaulted inside the lobby of Dongting Police Station of the Xishan Branch of the Wuxi Municipal Public Security Bureau. Deputy Director Dai Yang first snatched my phone, then instructed unidentified individuals to beat me, causing fractures to both nasal bones, with displacement on the left side. Certain judicial scum within the Wuxi Municipal Public Security Bureau, its Xishan Branch and Liangxi Branch, in order to help Dai Yang cover up and evade criminal responsibility, actually arrested me on the charge of picking quarrels and provoking trouble. After criminally detaining me for 30 days, they placed me under residential surveillance at my home.

Since the first day of my residential surveillance on November 30, 2025, I have reported feeling unwell to police officers of the Liangxi Branch and officers of Guangyi Police Station, the enforcement agency, and requested medical treatment. However, although I have made this report more than ten times and more than four months have now passed, I still have not been allowed to seek medical treatment at a hospital. They have openly deprived me of my right to life and health and are blatantly subjecting me to surveillance and persecution.

I hereby declare: Since the Liangxi Branch of the Wuxi Municipal Public Security Bureau deliberately abused its authority and deprived me of my right to seek medical treatment for life-threatening conditions, the facts that it is attempting to use this means to harm my body are clear, and the evidence is conclusive and sufficient. In the future, should I experience any physical discomfort, the persons directly responsible will be Li Heng, director of the Liangxi Public Security Branch; Yuan Bo, deputy director; Tang Zhenghui, director of Guangyi Police Station; and Shen Kexing, deputy director.
