(Rights Defense Network Information Center report) August 2, 2026. This website learned that Ms. Luo Chuanmei, a Falun Gong practitioner from Urumqi, Xinjiang, was persecuted to death at Xinjiang No. 2 Prison on October 3, 2025, and that her family was notified only after her body had been cremated.

Ms. Luo Chuanmei was deceived and abducted by Xinshi District police in early March 2025 under the pretext of “questioning,” and was subsequently sentenced to three years and eight months in prison. On October 3, 2025, she was persecuted to death at Xinjiang No. 2 Prison (Women’s Prison) at the age of 69. Prison authorities forcibly cremated her body without notifying her family, and more details remain concealed.

Because Luo Chuanmei persisted in practicing Falun Gong and telling people the truth, she was repeatedly detained and sentenced over the course of more than 20 years: she was once sentenced to two years of re-education through labor; she was sentenced to prison three times, receiving three years each time in the first two instances and three years and eight months this time; during this period, she was also repeatedly subjected to unlawful detention and harassment. Her ordeal involved public security, detention centres and prison systems in multiple regions, presenting a pattern of long-term, concealed, systematic persecution in Xinjiang.
