Falun Gong practitioners Tang Zhiwei and Liu Xuemei, a married couple from Meizhou, Guangdong, each sentenced to 8 years

（Rights Defense Network Information Center reports）On May 9, 2026，this website learned：Falun Gong practitioners Tang Zhiwei and Liu Xuemei, a married couple from Meizhou, Guangdong, were each sentenced to 8 years in prison。

On October 11, 2025，Tang Zhiwei and Liu Xuemei were followed and placed under surveillance while putting up Falun Gong stickers and distributing Falun Gong leaflets。At around 9:50 p.m. on October 12，they were arrested by police from the Meijiang District Public Security Sub-bureau near their residential compound，and their home was raided，with the police seizing a laptop、printer、Falun Gong books、Minghui Weekly》and other items。Tang Zhiwei and Liu Xuemei were subsequently criminally detained，and held at the Meizhou City Detention Center。Their arrests were approved by the Meijiang District Procuratorate on November 17, 2025。They were later indicted。

On the afternoon of February 24, 2026，the Meixian District Court held a trial for the couple。At the end of February, the court handed down its verdict：both were sentenced to 8 years in prison and fined 120,000 yuan。Their sentences run until：October 11, 2033。
