On May 26, 2026, this website learned that the case against Pastor Zhang Sen, Pastor Chang Shun and Elder Ma Tao of Anhui Fuyang Maizhong Reformed Church, who are suspected of “organizing illegal gatherings,” will be heard from June 9 to 12, 2026. Because Anhui Fuyang Maizhong Reformed Church has maintained its position as a house church and refused to join the Three-Self Church, it has repeatedly faced pressure from the authorities since 2021; on June 29, 2025, the church was raided by the authorities, and Pastor Chang Shun and Elder Ma Tao were criminally detained; on July 9, 2025, Pastor Zhang Sen was arrested.
In October 2025, Pastor Zhang Sen, Pastor Chang Shun and Elder Ma Tao were transferred to the procuratorate for review and prosecution on suspicion of organizing illegal gatherings.
