Cheng Lei: A Falun Gong practitioner from Shulan City, Jilin Province, born in 1967 and 59 years old in 2026, he was formerly an employee of the Kaiyuan Forest Farm in Kaiyuan Township, Shulan City, Jilin Province. He began practicing Falun Gong when he was young and maintained his Falun Gong faith. He was subjected to reeducation through labor by the Chinese Communist Party and sentenced twice, and was detained for a total of more than ten years, resulting in serious heart disease.
Cheng Lei worked in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, for many years. On October 29, 2025, he was arrested by police in Conghua District, Guangzhou, and detained at the Conghua District Detention Center. He was criminally detained, formally arrested, and indicted. After this arrest, his health became abnormal, and he underwent heart stent surgery at a public security hospital. In October 2026, it was learned that on September 16, 2026, he was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months by the Liwan District Court in Guangzhou. He is currently appealing.
