(Rights Defense Network Information Center report) On April 7, 2026, this website learned: Li Daoguo, editor-in-chief of the Wuyouzhixiang website, who was criminally detained across provincial lines from Beijing on March 25, 2026, by the public security authorities of Huixian, Xinxiang, Henan, for defending his rights, has been released as innocent.

Li Daoguo was taken from his home in Beijing’s Haidian District to Taipingzhuang Police Station at around 8 p.m. on March 25, 2026, and was subsequently taken away by public security personnel from Huixian, Xinxiang, Henan. As he remained unaccounted for 24 hours later, his family contacted Beitaipingzhuang Police Station, the Huixian Public Security Bureau and several other parties, eventually confirming that Li Daoguo had been criminally detained on suspicion of “extortion.” The case-handling unit was the Criminal Investigation Brigade of the Huixian Public Security Bureau, and he had previously been held at the Xinxiang City Detention Center. Under intense public pressure, Li Daoguo was released as innocent several days ago.

Li Daoguo is the editor-in-chief of the well-known grassroots left-wing website “Wuyouzhixiang.” In recent years, Li Daoguo has participated in rights-defense activities with people in his hometown because the environment in his native Huixian was destroyed, farmland was damaged, and mines were illegally exploited; he has persisted in reporting law-breaking enterprises and the unlawful enforcement of the relevant government departments in his hometown.
