According to a report by Voice of Tibet on March 24, 2026: Zega Gyatso, a monk at Shitsang Monastery in Tibet’s Bar County (now Tongde County), was arrested by Chinese police in July last year solely because he had sent money overseas. Recent information indicates that Zega Gyatso was released in January this year after being held for six months, but remains under close surveillance by the authorities, with his freedom of movement restricted, and is required to travel regularly to Xining City to undergo ideological education.
