(Rights Defense Network Information Center report) On April 4, 2026, this outlet learned that April 3, 2026, was the 37th birthday of Jia Pin, a practitioner of the Southern street movement and human rights defender. He spent his birthday in enforced disappearance. He has been forcibly disappeared since September 24, 2022, and there has been no news of him to this day.

Appendix: Jia Pin's biography: Born on April 3, 1989, he is a native of Henan Province, a rights-protection citizen, Southern street movement activist, democracy advocate, and Chinese political prisoner in custody.

He became a rights-protection citizen in his early years because he pursued the ideals of democracy and freedom. He later went to live in Guangdong Province for the sake of his livelihood and ideals, and gradually became a committed Southern street activist; however, because he had long been dedicated to speaking out for democracy and human rights in China, he was frequently arrested, deported, and detained by the authorities;

In 2013, he was detained by police and lost his job for participating in a rights-protection protest holding up signs in Dongguan, Guangdong; afterward, he turned to “professional” rights defense and used his savings from years of work to carry out rights-protection activities that he felt deeply duty-bound to undertake;

On April 29, 2014, he went to Suzhou, Jiangsu, to participate in a memorial ceremony on the anniversary of Lin Zhao's death, and was arbitrarily detained by Suzhou police along with rights-protection citizens Zhu Chengzhi, Li Xiaoling, Ouyang Biaofeng, and others. He was later criminally detained by Guangdong police on suspicion of “picking quarrels and provoking trouble” because of his speech; after his release, because he lived and spoke out in defense of rights in Guangzhou, Dongguan, and other cities, he was repeatedly expelled by local police and sent back to his registered place of origin;

On August 13, 2017, with the Chinese Communist Party's 19th National Congress about to convene, he was again forcibly deported by Dongguan police to his home in Henan under the pretext of maintaining stability;

On September 24, 2022, on the eve of the Chinese Communist Party's 20th National Congress, while visiting a friend and handling affairs in Beihai, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, he was once again forcibly taken away across provincial borders by Henan police who came to the scene. The alleged offense was unclear, and he lost contact from that point onward; more than three years have now passed, but he remains in a state of enforced disappearance. His current detention location is unknown.
