On the last Sunday of every month, some rights activists take group photos at Jishuitan in Beijing, and Shen Bingze photographs them, so the police took him away. On September 18 and the following two days, multiple gathering participants were forcibly taken away by police and questioned.
Shen Bingze’s résumé: Born in Tianjin in December 1951; sent down to the countryside in the suburbs of Harbin in 1969; joined the military in 1973, received a third-class merit award during his service, and joined the Communist Party. In 1978, after leaving the military, he joined Tianjin Steel Pipe Plant and soon became a section head; in 1980, he was named an Advanced Producer by the Metallurgical Bureau and an Outstanding Party Member. In early 1985, he attended a high school remedial class and a college entrance exam preparatory class; in 1986, he passed the adult college entrance exam (science stream) and enrolled at Tianjin Metallurgical Vocational University; he graduated in 1989 and returned to the factory to work in sales. From 1996 to 2005, he was laid off and found his own means of making a living; in 2006, he moved to Beijing to live with his daughter.
