On May 11, 2026, this outlet learned that Mr. Qian Dalong, a Beijing human rights defender, Chaoyang District resident and COVID-19 vaccine victim, developed a second-degree physical disability and multiple sequelae, including cerebral infarction, as a result of receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. His entire family was subjected to long-term online harassment, systematic false accusations and entrapment, insults and defamation by an illegal criminal gang, eventually being driven to a mental breakdown and attempting suicide.

On the evening of May 7, 2026, after having his stomach pumped and receiving emergency treatment at Chaoyang Hospital, he was forcibly taken back to the Guanzhuang police station. At 11:00 p.m. on May 7, 2026, the Guanzhuang police station in Chaoyang District forcibly and continuously questioned the seriously ill disabled man for nearly 40 hours. Qian Dalong was framed for picking quarrels and provoking trouble and assaulting police, and was released on bail pending trial at around 2 p.m. on the afternoon of May 9 due to his serious illness. During the forced questioning, he was beaten by personnel from the Guanzhuang police station, resulting in multiple injuries across his body, widespread bruising and red swelling of the skin, and fractured ribs.

Introduction to Qian Dalong: Beijing human rights defender, Chaoyang District resident and COVID-19 vaccine victim. He has been subjected to repression and persecution twice, detained criminally and released on bail, for exposing vaccine-related deaths, illnesses and disabilities and seeking to defend his rights. Unable to work normally because of illness and disability, he lacks medical care and medicine and lives in extremely difficult circumstances. The Beijing municipal government, when it comes to resolving the problems of vaccine victims, only shirks responsibility and passes the buck, suppresses and persecutes them, and prohibits them from speaking out.

Qian Dalong is certain that his misfortune was caused by sequelae from the COVID-19 vaccine. In order to seek justice, he previously called officials to account through bodies including the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Bureau for Letters and Calls, and joined other people suspected of suffering vaccine-related sequelae in protesting at China's National Health Commission. During this year's “Two Sessions,” Qian Dalong once again became a target of the authorities' stability-maintenance efforts. During this year's Two Sessions, stability-maintenance measures once again saw police on duty around the clock to restrict his personal freedom. He said he welcomed NPC deputies, CPPCC members and journalist friends to visit him at home during the Two Sessions and observe how vaccine victims survive in such a high-pressure social environment. During the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, Qian Dalong was again placed under close surveillance.

The “Proposal Calling for the Establishment of a ‘COVID-19 Vaccine Injury Protection and Assistance Mechanism,’” drafted by Qian Dalong and others, collected case reports of nearly 3,000 people who developed leukemia after receiving COVID-19 vaccines. Quite a few cases involved people who developed type 1 diabetes. They demanded that the government establish a special relief fund to cover the initial medical treatment of abnormal reactions to vaccination, including full compensation for accommodation, living expenses, lost wages and other costs during treatment.

However, the demands of COVID-19 vaccine victims have been ignored by the Chinese Communist authorities, and those who raised the issue have been subjected to further persecution by the authorities. These whistleblowers who were victims of COVID-19 vaccines—Qian Dalong was detained criminally twice and released on bail; Liang Xiaoqiang was detained criminally twice and sentenced; Wang Hongyi was sentenced to six months and has been released; Wu Song was detained criminally and released on bail; Wang Jiafu, Wang Ping, Tang Xuelian, Yang An and Peng Lu were detained criminally and subsequently released on bail. The Chinese Communist government suppresses people without resolving the problem—it only deals with the people, not the problem.

This outlet will continue to follow Qian Dalong's situation.
