(Rights Defense Network Information Center reports)On July 18, 2026,this outlet learned:the China Association for Preservation of Monuments and Sites, a Chinese non-governmental organization established in 1993,has long carried out cultural relic preservation and research projects in Tibet, and according to the private disclosure of the person in charge of the Tibet project, the preservation of cultural relics in Tibet faces two major challenges。

The first is the sunlight on the plateau, solar radiation is extremely strong, causing the murals in temples to blister and wrinkle, which in turn leads to peeling, and the rate at which cultural relic preservation and research personnel retouch the murals cannot keep up with the rate at which the murals peel and fall off。This causes damage to the important cultural relics in Tibetan temples——the murals。

In addition, blasting of the mountains for mining in Tibet causes continuous tremors in the Tibetan mountains, leading to cracks in the murals and pillars of many temples, and much of the damage is irreversible, these prominent problems and actual conditions involving the destruction of Tibetan culture are completely contrary to the authorities’ propaganda that “Tibetan culture is being protected”。

Since the situation surrounding the protection of Tibetan culture is extremely sensitive, the person in charge went no further and refused to disclose detailed information。
