Pre-trial Conference for Kunming Century New Town Christian Church Case to Be Held on September 2, 2026, with Trial Commencing on September 16

(Information Center of Rights Defense Network Reports) On August 29, 2026, this network learned: The pre-trial conference for the Kunming Century New Town Christian Church case will be held on September 2, 2026, and the trial will begin on September 16.

On April 12, 2026, the church gathering was raided by the authorities, and subsequently, Preacher Yu Shaolin, Li Qun, and Luo Ping were taken away and detained; later on May 20, the three were formally arrested on suspicion of "organizing illegal assemblies." They are currently all detained in the Guandu District Detention Center in Kunming City.

Century New Town Church is a small congregation of about 30 Christians who suffer from illnesses and hardships. For them, the church is a sanctuary. Since the raid, the church has released an open letter calling for prayers and is seeking legal aid. Preacher Yu Shaolin is 52 years old. He previously suffered from thalassemia, which has improved significantly in recent years. At the same time, he suffers from the following illnesses: carotid plaque, liver damage, poor kidney function, severe varicose veins in his right leg making surgery impossible, and swelling and pain in his right leg. Yu Shaolin's wife, Si Qi, is also physically weak, suffering from an adrenal tumor which not only causes pain but also triggers hypertension and hyperlipidemia, requiring long-term medication.
