Li Qiaochu: Update on Xu Zhiyong’s Situation in Prison (August 29, 2026)
Yesterday, I received a letter written by Xu Zhiyong on August 21, 2026. He told me that his outdoor time has improved—it is now 10 a.m. every day and lasts half an hour. Our correspondence has also been somewhat smoother recently than it was over the past two months.
Having his outdoor time return to normal and seeing an improvement in our correspondence are positive encouragements for me. Having received his own confirmation, I will consider this matter closed for now. Going forward, I will also regularly ask about his basic living conditions in my letters.
It is now early autumn, and I hope he can go outside for a walk and get some sunlight every day. Thank you to everyone who has been paying attention.
(P.S. He really liked the hand-drawn pictures I sent with my letter at the end of July, and he also shared this warmth with everyone. Everything will be all right, won’t it?)

The Kunming Shijixincheng Christian Church case will hold a pretrial conference on September 2, 2026, with trial scheduled to begin September 16. Authorities raided a church gathering on April 12, taking preacher Yu Shaolin, Li Qun and Luo Ping into custody. The three were formally arrested on May 20 on suspicion of “organizing an illegal gathering” and are held at Guandu District Detention Center.

Zion Church’s Open Prayer Letter Urging the Beihai Yinhai District Court to Immediately Release Wang Zhong and Wu Qiuyu
Zion Church said the Beihai Yinhai District Procuratorate indicted its “10·9” case on July 17, 2026, but a planned August pretrial conference and trial were postponed after lawyers protested. Eight pastors and co-workers remain detained on fraud and/or illegal business operations charges. The church said Wang Zhong’s bail requests were denied despite severe heart disease and his father’s death, while Wu Qiuyu remains separated from her two young children.

Case Details and Profile of Shandong Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Hao Guangping, Sentenced to 1 Year and 7 Months
Hao Guangping, a nearly 70-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Shandong, was among at least 10 practitioners arrested on January 6, 2026, during a coordinated operation by the Licheng District Public Security Bureau of Jinan City. Detained at the Jinan City Detention Center, she was later secretly sentenced by Zhangqiu Court to one year and seven months in prison and fined 5,000 yuan. Her sentence is due to end August 5, 2027.
