On August 14, 2026, this outlet learned that this morning (Friday, August 14, 2026), Wu Qiuyu’s father and Elder Wang Zhong’s wife went to the Beihai Municipal People’s Procuratorate and the Letters and Visits Bureau at the Beihai Municipal Political and Legal Affairs Commission’s premises to submit professional opinions that they did not constitute the crime of illegal business operations and requests for release on bail pending trial. For the Yinhai District Court to continue detaining Wang Zhong and Wu Qiuyu of Zion Church has no legality or reasonableness whatsoever, nor does it accord with people’s conscience. Therefore, we request that the Beihai Municipal Procuratorate and Political and Legal Affairs Commission urge the Yinhai District Court to correct its abuse of power in detaining them and immediately release Wang Zhong and Wu Qiuyu on bail pending trial.

Regarding the case accepted by the Beihai Yinhai District People’s Court in which defendant Wu Qiuyu is suspected of the crime of illegal business operations, we have relevant professional legal opinions. This case does not constitute the crime of illegal business operations; see the attachment for details.
Based on her personal health, and the fact that the two children are young (one is 3 years and 10 months old, and the other is 2 years and 7 months old), Wu Qiuyu signed an admission of guilt and acceptance of punishment in order to return home as soon as possible.
The procuratorate has already recommended that the court release her on bail pending trial, but the Beihai Yinhai District People’s Court has delayed this without cause until now. We request supervision to ensure that the court immediately releases her on bail pending trial.
We can guarantee that after release on bail pending trial, we will cooperate with the court’s trial arrangements. However, continued detention has caused the original purpose of admitting guilt and accepting punishment to fall through, and will inevitably lead to consideration of withdrawing the admission of guilt and acceptance of punishment.
