(Rights Defense Network Information Center report) On October 12, 2026, this site learned that it has been exactly three years since Zeng Yuxuan, a law doctoral student at the Chinese University of Hong Kong who was sentenced to six months by Hong Kong authorities, was forcibly disappeared after being sent to mainland China. Rights Defense Network strongly demands that the Chinese Communist Party authorities immediately release Ms. Zeng Yuxuan and clear her of all charges, and also asks the international community to continue paying attention to Ms. Zeng Yuxuan, who has been forcibly disappeared for three years.

Zeng Yuxuan: She was formerly a law doctoral student at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. On the eve of the 2023 June Fourth anniversary, she planned to hang a nine-meter-high vertical banner depicting the “Pillar of Shame” from a footbridge in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. Before the action, the information was leaked, and she was arrested by Hong Kong police on June 2, 2023. She was later sentenced to six months for “incitement ,” and while serving her sentence at Lo Wu Correctional Institution, she was repeatedly held in solitary confinement. She was the first “Hong Kong drifter” to be sentenced for “incitement.”

After completing her sentence, Zeng Yuxuan was deported to the mainland by the Hong Kong government. She has been missing since her deportation to the mainland on October 12, 2023, and her mother also lost contact with the outside world after returning to mainland China on October 20, 2023. The safety of Zeng Yuxuan and her family is a matter of great concern. Some Hong Kong people have launched a petition in support of Zeng Yuxuan, calling on the world to pay attention to her situation and condemning the human rights violations by the Chinese and Hong Kong governments.

This site will continue to follow Ms. Zeng Yuxuan’s situation.
