Since childhood, she lived with her parents and family in a traditional Tibetan household, and after marriage she and her husband had two sons;however, because of her deep love for her own ethnic culture, she paid close attention to and devoted herself to issues including the preservation and education of Tibetan culture;in 2008,because of activities commemorating the 49th anniversary of the armed uprising that took place in Tibetan areas on March 10,1959,many Tibetans throughout the Tibetan areas of mainland China(including the Tibet Autonomous Region、Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Gansu Province, and Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province)participated in collective protests, and some Tibetan social activists、writers, and scholars also took part;during this period, she and her father Suoluo also participated in peaceful protest actions in Sertar County,Ganzi Prefecture, and the authorities therefore arrested the two of them together on June 1,2008;it was later learned that after her arrest, she was beaten by prison guards for a prolonged period while in prison, causing her hip bone to be broken, and even after her release, she remained for a long time in a condition of declining memory、mental confusion、and localized bodily pain as a result of the torture and abuse she had suffered;since then, her words and actions have been strictly monitored by the Chinese Communist authorities in Ganzi Prefecture, and whenever a sensitive anniversary as deemed by the government approached, she had to register and explain the situation at the local police station, and was strictly prohibited from leaving her place of origin for other areas;in 2012,she and her father were arrested again for participating in protests against the Chinese Communist authorities’ high-pressure control policies toward Tibetans;during interrogation and detention, she was subjected to severe beatings and torture, causing her health to deteriorate seriously;on April 2,2021,she was once again criminally detained by police in Sertar County,Ngawa Prefecture,on suspicion of “separatism and endangering national security”,and was later placed in the same case as five other Tibetan writers and activists who were arrested afterward;subsequently, the six were formally arrested on the same charges;in September 2022,the case of the six was tried at the Ganzi Prefecture Intermediate People’s Court in Sichuan Province, and they were ultimately given heavy sentences ranging from four to 14 years for “separatism and endangering national security”,with she herself receiving a heavy sentence of eight years’ imprisonment, with her sentence running until April 4,2029;on April 21,2026,it was learned that she had continued to suffer torture and abuse in prison, causing her health to deteriorate continuously and prompting concern from outside observers。
She is currently serving her sentence at the Sichuan Women’s Prison(No. 261 Chuanxiang Road,Yangma Subdistrict,Eastern New Area of Chengdu,Sichuan Province, postal code:641402).

Chow Hang-tung: Statement of Plea
The author rejects a 206-page judgment that, they argue, treats belief in ending one-party dictatorship as unconstitutional and criminal. They say law cannot control thoughts, condemn obedience to authoritarian power, and describe ending one-party dictatorship as a responsibility of Hong Kong and Chinese people. The author refuses to apologize for these beliefs, accepts possible imprisonment, and vows to continue pursuing democracy, accountability for the 1989 massacre and a democratic Hong Kong and China.
