Yu Jingtao:A female Falun Gong practitioner from Weihai, Shandong, born in 1970 and aged 56 in 2026。 She began practising Falun in her early years。 Because she persisted in her Falun Gong faith, Yu Jingtao was subjected to 3 years of re-education through labour in 2006 and sentenced to 4 and a half years in prison in 2014, spending a total of 7 and a half years in prison on the two occasions。 She was subjected to torture and abuse at the Wangcun Women's Re-education Through Labour Camp in Zibo and Shandong Women's Prison。
On October 27, 2025, Yu Jingtao、 Ding Huimin and Xiao Bo were binding Minghui calendars in a rented residence when personnel from the Political Security Brigade of the Weihai Economic Development Zone Public Security Sub-Bureau suddenly broke in and arrested them, and ransacked their homes。 Subsequently, Yu Jingtao、 Ding Huimin and Xiao Bo were criminally detained and held in a detention centre。 One month later, on November 27, 2025, Wang Deshui, a Falun Gong practitioner from Changfeng in Weihai's Economic Development Zone, was also arrested at home and had his home ransacked by Political Security personnel。 At this point, all four Falun Gong practitioners had been detained and framed。
The four practitioners were subsequently framed and brought before the Rongcheng City Court。 The court later held four secret hearings, and no outsiders were permitted to attend any of the hearings。 In June 2026, they were sentenced as follows: Yu Jingtao to 6 years in prison, Wang Deshui to 3 years and 6 months in prison, Xiao Bo to 3 years in prison, and Ding Huimin to 1 year in prison。 Yu Jingtao's sentence runs until: October 26, 2031。

Sun Chao, a Christian preacher at Philadelphia Church in Qujing, Yunnan, was transferred to criminal detention on August 7, 2026, after completing a 12-day administrative detention for preaching the Gospel. Authorities reportedly cited suspected “illegal organization of gatherings.” Sun, who has epilepsy and requires regular medication, is detained at Xuanwei City Detention Center. The writer received a letter from Xu Zhiyong dated August 21, 2026, saying his outdoor time had improved to 10 a.m. daily for 30 minutes. Correspondence had also become smoother than during the previous two months. The writer considers the matter closed for now but plans to continue asking about Xu’s basic living conditions.
