(Report by the Information Center of Rights Defense Network)On August 16, 2026,this website learned that Zhou Fenglan,a 78-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from the Huishan area of Shenyang’s Shenbei New Area, and a retired employee of Huishan Animal Husbandry Factory, has been continuously persecuted for many years by the Chinese Communist Party’s public security, procuratorial and judicial systems because she persists in her Falun Gong faith。She was forced to develop symptoms of a cerebral thrombosis——including unclear speech and an unsteady gait、among others。
On March 20, 2024,Zhou Fenglan was reported while explaining Falun Gong to people, and was arrested by police from the Huishan police station。She was subsequently detained, but the detention center refused to accept her because of her high blood pressure, and she was released home on “bail pending trial”。On November 25, 2025,more than ten people from the public security bureau、procuratorate and court of Dadong District, Shenyang, broke into her home, conducted a so-called “trial” against her,and sentenced her to three years in prison, and fined her 20,000 yuan。Due to her physical condition, she had remained at home。In July 2026,the court forcibly “imprisoned” her。One month later, her family members were still prohibited from visiting her。

The author rejects a 206-page judgment that, they argue, treats belief in ending one-party dictatorship as unconstitutional and criminal. They say law cannot control thoughts, condemn obedience to authoritarian power, and describe ending one-party dictatorship as a responsibility of Hong Kong and Chinese people. The author refuses to apologize for these beliefs, accepts possible imprisonment, and vows to continue pursuing democracy, accountability for the 1989 massacre and a democratic Hong Kong and China.
