Zhang Yuemei: A female Falun Gong practitioner from Pingdu City, Shandong, born in 1955, she is from Qiege Village, Zhugou Town, Pingdu City, which is administered by Qingdao. She began practicing Falun Gong in 1997. Since the Chinese Communist Party launched its large-scale persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, Zhang Yuemei has been abducted and detained by the Chinese Communist Party authorities multiple times for persisting in her practice, and was once illegally sent to the Wangcun Re-education-Through-Labor Camp in Zibo.
Zhang Yuemei was arrested by police from the Zhugou Police Station of the Pingdu City Public Security Bureau on June 3, 2025, and was subsequently detained at the Pudong Detention Center in Jimo, Qingdao. On April 2, 2026, Zhang Yuemei was sentenced by the Pingdu City Court to 1 year and 10 months in prison and fined 8,000 yuan. Sentence ends: April 2, 2027.
