The Case of Pastor Huang Yizi of Fengwo Church in Shuitou Town, Pingyang County, Wenzhou, Has Again Been Postponed Until November 24, 2026

（Rights Defense Network Information Center report）On September 18, 2026，this website learned that recently，the court again extended the trial period for the case of Pastor Huang Yizi of Fengwo Church in Shuitou Town, Pingyang County, Wenzhou, until November 24, 2026，without stating the reason for the postponement。

It is understood that the case involves distributing audio Bible players containing recordings of Huang Yizi’s sermons to church members。Huang Yizi is the pastor of Fengwo Church in Shuitou Town, Pingyang County, Wenzhou。On June 26, 2025，he was taken away by police，and was later criminally detained on suspicion of “the crime of illegal business operations”。He has been detained for more than one year and two months。

Biography of Huang Yizi：Born on October 22, 1974，a native of Zhejiang Province，a resident of Fengwo Bay Village, Shuitou Town, Pingyang County, Wenzhou，a Christian，pastor of Fengwo Church in Shuitou Town, Pingyang County, Wenzhou，and a Chinese prisoner of conscience in detention。

He grew up in a Christian family from childhood and is the fourth-generation Christian in his family；influenced by Christian culture，he began following pastors at the age of 14 to participate in ministry activities such as visitations，and later, at the age of 17, he felt called to begin preaching，was ordained a pastor at the age of 28，and founded the Zhonghua Shenzhou Seminary at the age of 30；therefore，having undergone theological education and training，he gradually became a pastor widely respected by Christians in the Wenzhou area of Zhejiang；however，in early 2014，a large-scale campaign of forced church and cross demolitions launched by the Chinese Communist Party’s Zhejiang government（particularly typified by the Wenzhou area），also known as the “Cross Storm”，pushed him and other Christian pastors into the spotlight，where they faced the government’s planned and ruthless suppression；

Because more than 400 church buildings or crosses were demolished by the Zhejiang authorities that year，and because he was one of the earliest pastors to dare to publicly oppose the government’s forced cross-demolition campaign，he attracted widespread attention from Christians in China and abroad；on July 21, 2014，a violent forced demolition took place at Salvation Church in his hometown of Pingyang County（the church），and several hundred believers were attacked by several hundred police officers while protecting the church，resulting in more than 100 people being injured and at least 10 people being sent to the hospital for treatment；later，after more than 100 injured believers or their family members gathered and lodged complaints at the Shuitou Town government，he was notified by someone and also went to the site to negotiate with government personnel，while organizing people to sing hymns and pray to calm emotions；although he was later summoned several times by the Pingyang County police for questioning，overall he maintained that he had nothing to do with either the July 21 or July 24 incident，because he was the pastor of Fengwo Church in Shuitou Town；however，on August 1，he was summoned again by the Pingyang County police，and the following day he was criminally detained on suspicion of “the crime of gathering a crowd to assault state organs”；on August 28，the charge was changed again，and the Pingyang County Procuratorate approved his arrest on suspicion of “the crime of gathering a crowd to disrupt social order”，accusing him of being the organizer who gathered believers to protest and cause trouble；his case was subsequently prosecuted by the procuratorate and transferred to the local court for review；on March 24, 2015，the Pingyang County Court in Wenzhou sentenced him to one year in prison for “the crime of gathering a crowd to disrupt social order”；on August 1 of the same year，he was released after completing his sentence；

On September 12, 2015，he was inexplicably arrested again by the Pingyang County police on suspicion of “the crime of stealing、spying on、buying、or illegally providing state secrets or intelligence to foreign countries”，and was placed under residential surveillance at a designated location for nearly five months；after his release，his personal freedom continued to be severely restricted，and his online preaching livestreams were also frequently disrupted by the authorities；

On June 26, 2025，he was again forcibly taken away from his home by the Pingyang County police，his home was searched，and he was later criminally detained on suspicion of “the crime of illegal business operations”；on the same day，four other Christian church members were also taken away，and all are currently criminally detained on the same charge；it is understood that his current defense lawyers have met with him。He is currently detained at the Pingyang County Detention Center in Wenzhou（Pingshan Village, Kunyang Town, Pingyang County, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province，postal code：325400）。
