Pastor Chang Shun in the Anhui Fuyang Wheat Seed Reformed Church case was repeatedly intimidated, threatened and verbally abused by police during interrogations, who used his wife and son as hostages
(Rights Defense Network Information Center report) On June 16, 2026, this outlet learned that Li Yunyan, the wife of Pastor Chang Shun in the Anhui Fuyang Wheat Seed Reformed Church case, said after attending the court hearing that, after Pastor Chang Shun was taken away on June 29, 2025, he was repeatedly intimidated, threatened and verbally abused by police during interrogations.
Li Yunyan: “When interrogating a pastor, the police used his wife and son as hostages.
During the court hearing I attended two days ago, I learned something that left me extremely shocked and deeply saddened.
When police officer Sun Cheng interrogated my husband Chang Shun, he repeatedly intimidated, verbally abused and threatened my husband, ordering him to sign interrogation records that he did not acknowledge. He also said that if my husband did not sign, they would send me in as well; my detention notice had already been prepared—either he would sign, or I would go in. He also said that they would then send our child to a juvenile detention center.
I want to say this: Police officer Sun Cheng should be a police officer who handles cases according to the law. Why are you knowingly breaking the law? Is your power really that great? Can you send in anyone you want, simply because you want to?”
